This video is titled "the chase" by Syafiq latiff. This example uses the technique of film with all of the creative perspectives of the camera angles and editing. I really enjoyed this short video for many reasons. First off, I loved how the background music correlated with the whole theme of the piece. Not only that, but the message was so clear and strong. From an artists standpoint, there was great movement throughout the entire video as well as perspective and emphasis on everything having to do with time. Basically, this video's message is that time is running out and we all need to realize this idea time. He wants to make the view feel the need to never waste time. This message really relates to me because over the summer I did a lot of thinking about my future and going off to college soon and it really made me think and feel deep emotions about the subject.
This video is titled "Awake" by Rubben Von Gutti. This uses the technique of film through his strong photography values. Throughout the piece there are many shots that could stand alone as photographs with great composition. I loved the great use of contras in all of his shots, as well as the unity between each section. Although I did not really like the background music that was used, it was not a terrible choice; personally I would have chose something that was a little more emotional. I loved the message of this video; there are so many things going on around us and we need to open our eyes and be aware of them to make a difference. I think that this is something that everyone could relate to.
This piece is titled "Oil" by Elliot Williams. This uses the technique of film throughout the great composition and clear/consistent filming. This piece's best technique would be the great contrast of the black and white. Personally, I love the simplicity of this video. Although this is just oil mixing with water, it feels like so much more than that. The music that is added in this video is what really gives this piece it's sad/emotional feeling. I guess what you can take away from this video is that there are so many simple things in this world that we do not pay attention to. Essentially showing us to "stop and smell the roses." This can relate to everyones life because at our age, we tend to try to grow up too fast and before we know it, we will be out of time.
This piece is titled "Alone" by Edoardo Spazzoli. This film uses the technique of glitch throughout the main portion of the video. I love the way that he added the glitch into the video because it truly added a lot to it. The glitch was used to make it seem as if this mans perception was very skewed due to the loss of something very important. The most important element of this video was the strong movement throughout all of the scenes. It had very fast and rapid movements which portrayed exactly what goes on in someones mind when they are so deep in pain that they can barely even function. This video was super appealing to me because of the strong message and how well it was put together. There didn't even have to be a description for me to relate to this video. I can 100% relate to the feeling of this video when you are so hurt by a breakup or loss of a loved one that all you are hearing is the noises around you but nothing is sinking in, almost as if you are paralyzed in that moment. Also, there was no music in this video but having no music truly added to its message.
This piece is titled "Don't Lose Yourself" by Chelsea Balfour. This film uses the technique of sound design. Parts of this video seem like they came straight out of horror film but what really assists them is the sound design that was used to go perfectly along with the video movements and such. THere was a lot of elements of contrast throughout all of the shots and emphasis on the face. At first the title of this film appealed to me because as high school students, we do tend to lose ourself but as I watched it turned out to be something insanely disturbing! The entire film was a horrifyingly beautiful. I can most definitely relate to the message here because like I said, at our age we are still trying to find ourself and struggle with 'fitting in with the crowd.' There was music added in at the end and I'm not sure if I really like the effect of it, I would have really liked to continue the sound design instead!
This video is titled "A Whisper From Within" by Joe Navajo. This piece uses the technique of film through all of the great photography like shots throughout the film. All of the shots us fantastic lighting techniques that go perfectly along with the theme of knowing yourself and getting past hard situations. I was truly impressed with the lighting skills used. I can really relate to this message because it is when times get tough it's hard to know where to turn. There is also music in this video that is overlapped with speaking. The music really adds a true dramatic touch to this piece.
